The founding idea of the Awards is to promote personal development and instil a strong sense of morality by encouraging taking actions that benefit humanity, reviving and contributing to peoples’ spiritual and cultural values, developing traditions of mutual respect, religious tolerance, civic patriotism. The Awards are special because they are granted based not only on a professional and business track record of a candidate but also based on their dedicated humanist service, their personal qualities such as compassion, selfless devotion and scrupulous integrity, i.e. candidate’s actions are considered through the lens of their attitude to people. We are convinced that people today will be glad to see that unique and genuinely great individuals live among us. They will get a chance to rediscover the world, to see it in a new and better light, to learn to appreciate it even more and do even more good for its sake. This is the principal idea of the Awards. Laureates will act as humanity’s goodwill ambassadors encouraging spiritual and cultural development, tolerance and peace, and carrying out the mission of mutual respect and understanding between peoples.
The Awards aim to bridge the gap that exists in the international award system – these Awards belong to no country, they are outside of politics, outside of states, it is the entire humanity that owns them. The selection and nomination procedure, as well as the awarding venue selection, is fully democratic. Given their status, the Awards can eventually surpass many state awards, while their significance can make them the most transparent and recognized awards among people all over the world.
For the Benefit of Humanity and For Respect for People awards were established in 2004. The Awards have a status of international non-governmental awards, they are considered to be a sign of people’s recognition and are as significant as state awards.
